It's a sad circumstance.

KNF insurgents are thugs and rapists mostly and there are no educated people negotiating on their behalf or represented by any sane reasonable entity capable of understanding how unreasonable their demands are. They get their arms mostly from Myanmar-based insurgents. The army and RAB should intensify patrols and rout these people from their jungle whereabouts. Together with intensifying patrols, more road infrastructure should be built, along with curfews and depopulating and moving civilian population from selected areas to prevent these KNF people from using civilians as human shields. I am surprised this is not happening yet.

KNF thugs should realize that they are essentially fighting a losing game with a state-owned well-trained Bangladeshi military apparatus and keeping on fighting is affecting their illegal settler community in Bandarban negatively, leading to further poverty and loss of livelihood. However it is ultimately their choice. Most of these illegal settlers from Myanmar do not even have Bangladeshi citizenship papers, other than forged ones.
These KNF thugs are supported by both India and Myanmar. Bangladesh army cannot wipe them out because KNF has no permanent base in CHT. They operate from within India. I would like to recommend aerial attack on them but to do that Bangladesh army needs to buy attack helicopter which is not coming in the foreseeable future.

Yeah I know. But in the interim - economical recon platforms like Recce drones will have to suffice.

And cheaper Coin platforms like Embraer A29 Super Tucano etc. which are a lot cheaper than attack helis.

The Super Tucano can do 367 knots, has extended loiter time and can use laser guided bombs. Great COIN aircraft. I am sure our training jets Yak 130s and K-8s can do the same thing with Chinese laser-guided bombs but a prop plane (even though with a turbine) is a lot more economical to operate.

In addition to using it against insurgency in CHT, attack helicopters can also be used against enemy armored columns in war time. But Embraer A29 Super Tucano cannot be used against enemy armored columns. It is used in low intensity war only.
