BSS: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today sought Chinese cooperation for Bangladesh's southern region's development as its Ambassador here Yao WEN called on her at her official residence Ganabhaban.

"Direct road communication was already established with country's southern region through Padma Bridge. I want China to help Bangladesh for its southern region's further development," PM's Speech Writer Md Nazrul Islam quoting her as saying in a media briefing after the meeting.

According to Islam, Sheikh Hasina told the Chinese envoy that the southern region of the country was neglected for so long as except Awami League (AL), no government took effective steps for the development of this area.

Turning to cooperation, the Chinese ambassador requested the prime minister to offer specific proposal for the development of Bangladesh's southern region.

Yao WEN also conveyed an invitation to Sheikh Hasina to visit China in the coming July as the premier received the invitation.

Ofcourse, China is better than USA. I advise Bangladeshis to prefer China over USA anyday.

Look what USA has done to Iraq and Afghanistan.
You have misunderstood man! The beginning argument was, "If China or India is backing Hasina," and it started from another thread!

Please start from here and then follow the discussion between me and @Saif!

@Old School bhai is posting more reference ( that show that China is backing Hasina) when @Saif was posting articles that claim that India is backing Hasina.

USA is irrelevant here, as everyone know that USA was desperate to kick Hasina out from almost 2 years ! And personally I am a pro China guy since ages, but I just don't go with standard storyline that is , India is supporting Hasina to survive, rather I see that it was China who is backing our queen Sheikh Hasina , hence I posted some references from Chinese officials vow to support Hasina!

The Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, said that China has shown keen interest in investing more in Bangladesh

Yao Wen said: "China has been a significant contributor to Bangladesh's development, particularly the Padma Bridge, and has provided considerable support for this critical project. We believe that this has transformed Bangladesh, and thus, China is interested in investing more in Bangladesh."

The Chinese ambassador said this to questions from journalists after paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Tungipara, Gopalganj on Monday.

The Chinese ambassador said that they have also worked on the Bangabandhu Tunnel in Chittagong and have many other mega projects. There are investments in the infrastructure sector and significant investments in the ICT Hi-Tech Park, industry, and education sectors.

"There are more plans concerning investments in Bangladesh," he added.

He further added: "The friendly relations between China and Bangladesh have been longstanding. The Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, wanted to build a Sonar Bengal. His daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working towards building a smart and advanced Bangladesh, and I assure you (journalists) that China will fully support this endeavour."

On Monday morning, he arrived at Tungipara and paid his respects by placing a wreath at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu.

I think we should send Mr. Jaiswal a pair of high power binoculars so he can "keep an eye on Bangladesh army" having a military exercise with the PLA.
