Dumb bombs are a thing of past where one adversary has complete air dominance and superiority. Modern mobile IADS dont let that happen. Exactly like in Ukraine. A lesson Russians learnt the very hard way.

Except USA and maybe China, no one can do that.

Use cases exist, and militarizes must therefore persist with these. Keep in mind also that guided munitions add a big cost factor to your operations (not to sound baniya, but it is what it is)

Militias with manpads are rare, and when they do have those capabilities, they're almost always in a proxy role backed by a behind the scenes waala haanth.

Even modern air defences, but, for well protected major nations.. its not a 100% coverage, its layered, there will almost always be some slippage, gets progressively denser and tougher as you approach priority assets. Indo Pak Cn ka dekh lo, zabardast mountainous terrain, rotarys can snake through and evade all rays, EW, and worst case ECMs also at their disposal.
