Importing food is not a crime, if you have a deficit you import. If you have a surplus you export. It is bought with money. Importing food does not make anyone 'dependent' on any country.

Unfortunately the amount of food imported from India will slowly be reduced - Bangladesh has made arrangements with Pakistan for importing 25000 tons of sugar (half of it already brought in), and significant amounts of onion and potatoes from Egypt and Turkey as well.

Because of Indian politicians' adventurism and ego, small businesses and farmers in India will suffer even more. Onions are rotting on the Indian border....
