Pakistan dumping China? Ex-General warns: 'Hope Beijing realises before it sinks billions more'
Former Indian Army General GD Bakshi on Wednesday cautioned China about its defence and financial ties with Pakistan. "The Pakistani generals have happily Dumped China who has given them over 80% of their weapons and over 83 bn $ in loans. It is the most opportunistic and unreliable country in the whole world," the former general wrote on X. "I hope Beijing realises that before it sinks billions of $ more of arms and unrealisable loans into that treacherous state called Pak. Let Beijing not risk its top of the line weapons with Pak. It will ruin their reputation because its madrasa-educated Youth lack the technical expertise to handle them."

Bakshi's remarks come at a time when Pakistan, a country heavily dependent on Chinese investments and defence equipment, appears to be normalising ties with the United States. Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has made two visits to Washington in less than two months, and a Donald Trump-linked company is reportedly engaging in cryptocurrency business in Pakistan. Analysts suggest the warming of relations may be America's attempt to reduce China's influence over Islamabad.

China has poured tens of billions of dollars into Pakistan over the last decade, primarily through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship initiative under Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). These investments have spanned infrastructure projects including highways, ports, power plants, and energy pipelines, alongside massive loans for development and defence procurement. Chinese firms have supplied over 80% of Pakistan's military equipment, while state-backed banks have extended more than $83 billion in loans, aiming to cement long-term strategic and economic influence in the country.

Following Munir's latest visit, the US reaffirmed that its relationship with both India and Pakistan "remains unchanged" and that its diplomats are "committed to both nations." During his second visit in two months, Munir threatened to launch a nuclear war against India and take down "half the world" if Pakistan's existence was at risk. These remarks marked the first known nuclear threats issued against a third country from US soil.

Speaking at a State Department briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce highlighted Washington's role in de-escalating the India-Pakistan conflict. "We had an experience with Pakistan and India, when there was a conflict, that could have developed into something quite horrible. There was immediate concern and movement with the Vice President JD Vance, the President Donald Trump and the Secretary of State Marco Rubio in addressing the nature of what was happening,” she said. Bruce also reiterated President Trump’s earlier claim, calling it a “very proud” moment for the US to have been “involved in stopping that potential catastrophe.”

When questioned about whether the US would increase assistance and arms sales to Pakistan "at the expense of US President Donald Trump's relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi," spokesperson Tammy Bruce responded, "The US relationship with both nations remains unchanged – good. The diplomats are committed to both nations."

Pakistan is loyal to highest bidder. When US bid highest price, Pakistan was with US. When China did that , Pakistan was with China. Now again US is bidding higher price, so naturally the loyalty of Pakistan has shifted again. Only those guys will surprise who doesn't know Pakistan.

I'm not surprised that Pakistan has betrayed China. Not only am I ashamed, but also embarrassed.

Pakistan unfortunately is in a very bad position.

US does indeed want to use Pakistan to pressure India, who are refusing to break ties with Russia and Iran.

Pakistan is in pretty bad shape economically and otherwise, Trump aa gaya.. he also wants to stop Pakistan getting too close to Beijing as part of his broader strategy against China.

US is in terminal decline, even if they still tower above the rest for now.

Surprised to hear you guys comment as if Pakistan has choices and was in the driver's seat in these moves.

The US waa done eith Pakistan and discarded ot like a used condom.

Which was the scramble was Chinese dick.

China has long being getting weary with Pakistan. Sindoor was not the catalyst. Nor the straw that broke the camel's (gadha's) back. The signs have been around for over 6-8 years now. While we were still on the original forum the cooldown had begun and I jad commented extensively on it.

The US is now back. All facades and pretenses dropped. They are gunning for India. And Pakistan is back to sucking its favourite cock.

Chinese debt, failed weapons? The real story of Pakistan's flip to US

Chinese debt, failed weapons? The real story of Pakistan's flip to US
Pakistan's flip to Washington is driven by military setbacks, a loss of faith in Chinese hardware, and the lure of American weapons, according to former Indian artillery chief Lt. Gen PR Shankar.

In a podcast conversation with Sandeep Unnithan's Chakra, Shankar said Pakistan Army chief Gen Asim Munir's recent nuclear threats to India from US soil should be seen in the context of Operation Sindoor on May 10, when Indian strikes allegedly crippled Pakistan's air defences and neutralised its nuclear delivery capability.

"He's doing it from US soil. That's worrying. And the fact that the US has tolerated this kind of talk from US soil is also troubling," Shankar said, calling the threats part of Pakistan's habitual "nuclear sabre-rattling" but also "a panic reaction."

According to him, May 10 was decisive: India's strikes left Pakistan unable to launch nuclear-armed aircraft or missiles. Bases such as Sargodha, Nur Khan, Jacobabad, and Rahim Yar Khan were hit or disabled, while air defence systems were exposed. "Pakistan could not retaliate with nuclear weapon systems, and they panicked - and that was the time when they ran to the US," he said.

Shankar alleged Chinese-supplied systems failed in combat, citing recovered PL-15 missiles with single-pulse motors of 80 km range rather than the dual-pulse 150 km versions Pakistan expected. When asked whether Pakistan has actually lost faith in its Chinese hardware, the former general said: "Yes, they have gone back to the US. They've done the U-turn."

Munir's goal in Washington, Shankar argued, is clear: "He wants weapons. He wants guarantees against India." He claimed the US seized the moment to reassert influence over Pakistan, offering diplomatic cover, possible removal from the FATF watchlist, and likely future access to F-16s-previously grounded under end-user agreements during Operation Sindoor.

"The US coming back into Pakistan means it now has control over Iran, Afghanistan, China, and India. US stakes are high. Pakistan has flipped from China to that side," Shankar said, framing the shift as part of a broader geostrategic triangle involving the US, China, and Pakistan.

The lure of American aid is also financial. "With China, it (Pakistan) will only get loans - it will have to repay. Pakistan is not interested in repaying anyone. If it goes to the US, it doesn't have to pay anything. It gets everything free of cost, including the military hardware," Shankar said. Going with the US, he argued, allows Pakistan to press Beijing to scale back demands for debt repayment. Now, Pakistan will say to China: "I'll repay you, but you first get out."
