The latest filing of three murder cases takes the total cases to at least 105 brought against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and her cabinet and party colleagues on murder charges.

The three murder cases were filed in Dhaka and Gazipur on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

These cases also include 12 complaints related to crimes against humanity and genocide.

Two of the murder cases were lodged with the Kaliakoir police in Gazipur district on Friday night and Saturday against 217 named accused, including Hasina, her sister Rehana, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, former Liberation War Affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque and former lawmaker Sheikh Helal Uddin.

New Age correspondent in Gazipur reported that the cases were filed on the charges of killing Jashim Fakir, 36, and Shahinur Mahmud Sheikh, 40.

Victim Jashimโ€™s brother Riaz Fakir filed a case on Friday night while Shahinurโ€™s wife filed another case on Saturday morning.

Kaliakoir police officer-in-charge Md Nasim confirmed the news.

โ€˜We have recorded both cases,โ€™ the police officer said.

The third case was filed on Sunday against 34 people, including Sheikh Hasina, over the killing of wall painter Babul Hawlader during the recent student movement for quota reforms, state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.

Babulโ€™s widow Monowara Begum filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arobia Khanom.

The court, after recording statement of the complainant, asked the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate the matter and submit a report.

The other prominent accused in the case are Obaidul Quader and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

According to the case documents, students and people brought out a procession in support of the anti-discrimination movement on July 19 in front of Rampura Better Life Hospital in the capital.

Babul succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on July 28.

Sheikh Hasina resigned as the prime minister and fled to India amid a student-led mass uprising on August 5.

Newly appointed chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Md. Tajul Islam (C)Collected

Newly appointed chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) advocate Md. Tajul Islam Sunday said necessary steps will be taken to bring ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country to stand trial over alleged crimes against humanity and genocide during the recent movement of Students Against Discrimination in the country.

โ€œAs she (Sheikh Hasina) is considered to be the main perpetrator and she has fled the country. We would initiate the legal process to bring her back. The extradition treaty between Bangladesh and India was signed in 2013, during the tenure of her government. As we guess that she would be the main accused and she was made accused in most of the cases filed over the genocide that took place in Bangladesh recently, we would try to make her stand trial after bringing her back to the country,โ€ Tajul said in his initial reaction after becoming ICT chief prosecutor.

He further said the accused, no matter what their ranks were, how powerful they were, would be treated equally when they would stand inside the dock at the courtroom.

โ€œAll are equal before the law. We would deal with the accused according to the gravity of their crimes. So, it does not matter whether he or she was the prime minister, the IGP or any powerful minister, they would get equal treatment. We have no doubt whatsoever, there would be no injustice against them, there would be no exemption as well,โ€ he added.

Replying to a question on what would be their first duty, Tajul said they would try their best to stop the possible perpetrators and accused from fleeing the country. โ€œIf an accused manages to flee the country, it becomes very hard to stand him to trial.โ€

โ€œWe would send letters to all the law enforcing agencies through the ICT investigation body in this regard,โ€ he further said.

Tajul Islam added that they have received many complaints already and sounded positive to find out the people involved with the genocide and crimes against humanity.

โ€œWe would file charges against those accused soon so that they cannot flee the country. We would try to arrest them and bring them under the law,โ€ he said.

Responding to a question on the necessity of reforming the tribunalโ€™s laws, Tajul said they would sit with the government and make a decision after discussion.

These are standard diplomatic gestures. Nothing obviously will come from them.

India has provided refuge to the Dalai Lama for decades on our soil. In the face of China.

Not to mention Baloch rebel leaders. Though I do not think that was done as openly.

We will provide refuge to Anup Chetia then.

My point is simple.

If a country like China is powerless against a smaller country like India where the Dalai Lama is concerned.

If a country like India is powerless against a smaller country like Pakistan where Dawood and Hafeez are concerned.

What chance do you think Bangladesh has?

The time for these kinds of boasts has sailed.

Bangladesh has plenty of leverage against India - mostly trade leverage but also geo-political leverage.

$45 Billion a year in trade, all told. And suspension of all existing bilateral agreements and MOUs as well.

Bangladesh is firmly outside the sphere of Hasina and India.

If India can deal with that - then all good.

You underestimate the anger against Hasina owing to what she did as an Indian plant.

And you also underestimate our resolve.

Dalai Lama, Dawood, Hafeez are not good analogs to compare.

You forget your geography.

Maybe opening a school atlas would help.

Condescending attitude noted.

Geography can go both ways - maybe you should remind yourself of the chicken's neck. :D

Just try something - and heed Rajnath Singh's paper tiger advice. Try and see.

Bangladesh is not Maldives or even Nepal. Bullying will not work with Bangladesh.

Lahore was saved by, among others, the East Bengal Regiment in 1965 - Major Zia won gallantry awards at that time.

As of yesterday - Chinese troops have made incursions 60 KM into Arunachal Pradesh past the border.

Your FM and Home Minister are mum about that - cat got their tongue?

All their bravado is limited to dissing smaller neighbors like Bangladesh. Emphasis on "limited".

When Lutfuzzaman Babar was minister - Indians would start shaking their knees at the very mention of his name.

ULFA, Kamtapur Liberation Army and dozens of other secessionist organizations in NE India are still ready to go.

India's strategy about dealing with Bangladesh is always less than smart. Sooner or later - they will lose the seven sisters.

Regrettable.

Some eye-opening analysis by Bobby Hajjaz, some of his thoughts do have merit. Why Hasina was a BJP sponsored implant in Bangladesh.
