I'm starting this thread because this Gwader situation has started psychologically bothering me that how come its sister city of Chahbahar in Iran is doing well despite sanctions and what not and our Gwader is under lockdown curfew. Please note both sides of the divide are Sunni Baloch people and our Baloch go over to the Irani side freely and about a million have now migrated to Iran for a better life.

So any related news is welcome to discuss how one city is near thriving, whilst the other is in real trouble.

Don't take this the wrong way, but posting pictures of Chabahar from Internet sources is questionable.

Especially if you source pictures from Indian sources - they will put in pictures of Chinese or American ports as Chabahar. You have to know about types of container handling equipment, posting pictures of any old container port could make you look bad. I personally appreciate your effort - but let's be factual and accurate.

Also - you can search using Google images, or go to the Chabahar port official site itself (http://chabaharport.pmo.ir). Most of the pictures you posted are not of Chabahar port.

If you post non-credible or wrong pictures, then that puts the reputation of this forum in question as a fraudulent source.

But the main crux of the news you mention in this thread is a non-issue. India wanted to get two things out of Chabahar.

1. Bypass Pakistan and China to get land access to Russian mainland via Azerbaizan.
2. Get access to Afghan mainland (for mined mineral products - mainly iron)

All this is in question, as China seems to have convinced Iran to drop India as a development partner. See the following article in India Today from November 2024 and make your own conclusions.

There is no trouble.

China is establishing a link to Xinjiang using Gwadar (providing a sea link),

Chabahar has two different purposes -

1. Connection (Rail Link) via Zahedan - which has trucking links to most of Afghanistan. This was advantageous to India, emphasis on "Was".
2. Connection to Russian mainland via Azerbaijan (via road ways though Iran's Northern border). This is a much shorter route than through busy EU coastal route and via St. Petersburg, Riga, Tallinn etc.
3. For India it is a great advantage to connect via Iran+Azerbaijan to Russian mainland.

Bhai we can’t even go to balochistan for fear of being killed.

You can still go to Karachi Lahore or Islamabad, but going to Quetta or Gwader is risky.

And the pics of chahbahar are what’s on the net no?

Why would they fake those pics?
 
Also I believe this port is not really meant for Central Asia much as the economies there are very small.

What this port will serve as its main purpose is for the INSTEC corridor between Russia Iran and India.

US will do nothing bhai. India has its own interests trading with Russia and Iran and it’s a question of sovereignty now for India!

India has invested half a billion into chahbahar and its already bearing fruit.

I feel cheated that our Gwader is in the doldrums despite all the fanfare and game changer and whatnot. CPEC is on hold indefinitely now bhai.

Bajwa got told to gradually ease China out of Pakistan……or else!

I said years and years ago when there was much festivity around the Gwadar CPEC thing there.. ki Pk don't have the diplomatic capital to balance the US - China rivalry.

India can, Israel Iran, US Russia etc..

Story of Pak, I been banned multiple times there for saying Pk always looking for a sugar daddy.. kabhi China China, kabhi Turkiye, kabhi US.. beech me there was also a frenzied discussion about elbowing India out of their Russian frandship.

Khud ni karna kaam, but.

As we say in Haryanvi... yo ke baat hui, chhorey ?

More like in the middle of a Typhoon, bhai.

Doldrums means no winds, around equator.. all sailboat and sail ships just drift there with no wind to harness... currents take em wherever.

China spent $26 billion so far on CPEC, out of a proposed $60 billion envisaged.

I believe that it was sensible of China to stop any further investments because Pakistan was unable to repay the loans in installments on the $26 billion amount.

Ab to sub khatam bhai. Its all over now. Nobody even talks about CPEC or BRI.

On the other side of the border the Chinese offered Iran $450 billion in BRI projects, aur Iran ne kaha maaf karo bhai......we already have good infrastructure and don't really need it.
