Yes, from the beginning of Islam. Mohammad too was fond of kids and goats. There is a story in Islamic literature. Once, angle came to Mohammed's house. Mohammad's neighbour thought that Mohammad alone will enjoy this handsome angle
They too wanted a share in it. Mohammad requested them not to demand it and enjoy ladies of his family instead.
