Short Summary: Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - More than 70 bodies, including women, children and the elderly, were discovered on February 14 in a church of the Evangelical and Baptist Center of Congo and Africa (CEBCEA) in Kasanga, near the village of Maiba, in the Lubero area, in the province of North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to reports by Radio Okapi, local civil society believes that these are the bodies of missing people kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on February 12. The bodies of the people, beheaded with machetes, were found with their hands tied behind their backs. It is suspected that Islamists of the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces), a group originally from Ugan

JOHANNESBURG – Seventy Christians have been beheaded with machetes or large knives, according to multiple groups that monitor terrorism and persecution, by Islamist militants in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – and yet the world remains mostly silent.

The 70 Christians were first rounded up by Islamist rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces, a group affiliated with the terror group Islamic State, or ISIS, according Open Doors U.S., which monitors Christian persecution around the world. The Christians, reportedly all from the Lubero district, were forced out of their homes allegedly early in the morning of Feb. 13, with the rebels shouting, "Get out, get out."

They were taken hostage, and moved to a small Christian church in the village of Kasanga. There, inside the building that had until then been considered a sanctuary, they were first tied up, and then all 70 were beheaded, the groups say.

Vianney Vitswamba, coordinator of a local community protection committee, is quoted by the Global Fight Against Terrorism Funding organization, (GFATF) as saying, "70 bodies were discovered in the church. They were (found) tied up."

It is not clear from the picture whether the two events are related. The army of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on February 20, 2025, urged on local airwaves the soldiers fleeing in the eastern province of North Kivu to rejoin their units and continue the fight to counter the advance of the M23 rebels. Open Doors U.S. reports that 95% of people living in the DRC are Christian. Yet the Islamist ADF, analysts say, are bent on turning this community in the troubled North East of the country into an Islamic Caliphate, forcing this majority-Christian community to follow extreme Muslim practices.

"The violence takes place in a context of impunity, where almost no one is held accountable," John Samuel, Open Doors legal expert for sub-Saharan Africa, stated. "This massacre is a clear indicator of widespread human rights violations against civilians and vulnerable communities, often targeting Christians, perpetrated by ADF – a(n) Islamic State affiliate."

Tristan Azbej, Hungary's State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians posted on X, "Horrified to learn about the 70 Christian martyrs beheaded by terrorists in a church . . . . Hungary stands in solidarity with the persecuted Christians . . . the world needs to recognize and act against Christian persecution."

CHRISTIANS IN AFRICA FACE WORRYING RISE IN KILLINGS, PERSECUTION AND DISPLACEMENT

Open Doors UK declared in a recent statement that Christians in the DRC "face severe persecution and violence frequently from Islamist militants, the ADF, especially in the eastern region. Allied with the Islamic State group, the ADF abduct and kill Christians and attack churches, leading to widespread terror, insecurity and displacement."

Worldwide, and particularly in Africa, Christians face increasing persecution. In a January 2025 report, Open Doors US stated that "over 380 million Christians worldwide experienced at least a "high level" of persecution and discrimination because of their faith."

Local Christians are said to be in despair. "We don’t know what to do or how to pray; we’ve had enough of massacres," an elder of the local CECA20 church told reporters. "May God’s will alone be done."

But despite the shocking nature of the killings, and the large number of those murdered, there has been little reported in the media. Posting on X, American political commentator Liz Wheeler wrote, "70 Christian men, women & children were beheaded . . . because they’re Christian. Their decapitated bodies were left in a church . . . because they’re Christian. The terrorists who murdered them have ties to ISIS. MSM, where’s your outrage? Are you silent . . . because they’re Christian?"

Also in North-Eastern DRC, Rwanda-backed M23 rebels are reported to have entered the region’s second-largest city of Bukavu on Friday, after taking over the major city of Goma on the Rwanda border.

The fact that you are willingly making a connection between this massacre and Islam is the part that is circumspect. You are trying to show that Muslims are militant, violent criminals and are used to this kind of criminal acts.

In fact if these criminal mobs are connected with ISIS, they are just thugs, and are not considered Muslims by majority of Muslim folks.

Criminals and militants are just that and don't belong to any religion.

This kind of thing happens all the time in Africa, oppression of religious groups, sometimes Muslims also get killed (including in India), I don't see you posting those news.

There were 40,000 plus Muslims killed in Gaza, didn't see you once posting that news.

The Hindu Yuva Vahini or HYV is a militant Hindutva vigilante group founded by Yogi Adityanath, who is a chief minister of UP, a state in India. India's govt. therefore is complicit in religious killings and repression. These are not just criminals, they are militants active with govt. funding, persecuting all non-Hindus, with support from a chief minister and in proxy from your govt. at the center. Unheard of in the entire world.

"At a Hindu Yuva Vahini event in December, Suresh Chavanke, the editor of a Hindu nationalist TV channel, administered an oath in which people pledged to “kill to make India a Hindu rashtra (nation).” In February, Raghvendra Pratap Singh, a BJP legislator who runs the Hindu Yuva Vahini, said he would “destroy” those who insult Hindus. And last month, a local Hindu Yuva Vahini official threatened to remove loudspeakers from mosques. The group also continues to act as “informers” reporting Hindu-Muslim couples to the police."

As a supporter of militant Hindutva (going by your posts), when you post this kind of religious repression news supposed perpetrated by Muslims, it is circumspect.

This is Hindutva propaganda.

I am not making connections. The group who beheaded christians is named Islamic state of Iraq and Syria. It is very surprising that when Islamic radicals keep their name on Islam and Mohammad and kills people, none of the Muslim has any problem. However, whenever people connects it to Islam, they starts seeing problem into it. Those who perpetrate violence say that they do it as per the directions of Quran. All Muslims are in support of it. However, when it comes to open discussion, they say that Islam has nothing to do with them. This duplicity worked for few years but people know truth now.

Those who perpetrate violence say that they do it as per the directions of Quran. All Muslims are in support of it.
You are quite wrong. The Quran does not needlessly ask Muslims to perpetrate violence. The verses in the Quran about this are needlessly taken out of context. Read the following,

Hindutvas are always strongly spreading anti-Muslim propaganda while consuming namak of Muslims. They should have some shame.

Without Hindu Indians working in the Gulf and the resulting remittance going to India, Indian economy would be nowhere. Remittances run the Indian economy.

But as is typical, Hindutvas still end up biting the Muslim hand which feeds them.

Did Pakistan genocide Bengalis? @Bilal9 @Saif

There were casualties on both sides - and some of them were indeed civilian.

Although off topic, let me shed some light on this.

As can be expected the Pakistan Army's professionalism and discipline did suffer after March 1971 and got progressively worse as commanded by AAK Niazi, Tikka Khan and Yahya Khan, setting fire to entire villages after a civilian killing spree (to punish them for harboring Muktis) were rather common which got reported. Rapes were also reported.

Things like this happen in an armed conflict, witness Mai Lai etc.

The Fauji leadership in Islamabad thought that bringing out armored vehicles and tanks would quash the "rebellion" in East Pakistan, when further negotiations between Mujib and Bhutto would have borne far better outcomes, but there is some difference between how civilians and military folks think.

There were large numbers of civilian deaths which angered Bengalis of East Pakistan and hardened their resolve to seek separation as a state from Pakistan.

Bhutto's hands were ties apparently on what he could offer as a compromise.

Ultimately, massive folly by the Pakistani military leadership in 25th March, 1971 which sadly broke up Pakistan. It took 50 years to heal the wounds, some say it will take longer.

Gulf will go back into the ages of Mohammad without Indians. Nobody wellcome Indians out of love but out of necessity. Earlier, their preferences were Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. With the time, they realized like others that it is not a good choice. Pakistani doctors are now banned practicing in Some of the gulf countries.

Keep believing bhai, what they taught you at the RSS Shakha.

The world does not NEED Indians.

Indians NEED to seek jobs outside India because the economy there is crap.

World very much need Indians and Indian economy is not crap. Indian economy is world's fastest growing economy in the world. Patriotism is taught in RSS shakha unlike jihad and genocide taught by Madrasa and almost all other Muslim, Islamic organisations which are synonyms of terrorism. That is why they are not wanted anywhere. Had RSS been teaching what is being taught in Jamat and Madrasa, we too would have reduced our minorities to a fraction of population like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Before some of your half-educated RSS people start tagging Bangladeshis with Jamati, Militant and Madrasa-educated, know that it is the region of Bengal that taught the rest of uneducated India the meaning of progressivism. Even as early as in the 12th century.

Bengali is much closer to Sanskrit than Hindi, that Frankenstein language you unfortunately speak, so shlokas, Upanishad and Vedas are easily understood by most Bengali Muslims, who by the way are far more progressive about religion of ANY KIND. I myself am fairly well apprised on Sanskrit Grammar, and I am a Muslim.

It is the uneducated, undeveloped BIMARU idiots in North and Western India who pick useless fights based on religion.

Most of India (regardless of what they think) are horribly backward with no representation of women in the workforce and yes, even in the Indian parliament. Read and get schooled on how Indians can learn a few things from Bangladesh,

So - BJP and the rest of the Hindutva ahammuks calling Bangladesh Jihadi-terrorist, Madrasa etc. are just too old. Just creative faaltu BS.

What a pity that those who claimed themselves to be the leader in education has ended up as providers Nursing services and sexual services. Nowhere they are considered to be a respectable community. However, their pseudo ego emerged out of inferiority is so high that they call the people who are considered to be most literates, law biding, technocrats, leaders in education across the world as illiterate. I am warning you: Bangladesh Army chief tells politicians their infighting puts country's sovereignty at risk
Bangladesh Army chief General Waker-uz-Zaman on Tuesday warned politicians against fighting among themselves, saying this infighting poses a great risk to the country's sovereignty. "I am warning you. You cannot later say that I did not warn you," he said at an event held in remembrance of the army officers who died in the brutal killings at Pilkhana in 2009.

On February 25 and 26, 2009, several army officers, including the then-director general of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed, were murdered in a mutiny at the headquarters of the paramilitary force (now Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB) in Pilkhana, Dhaka. In total, 74 bodies were recovered from the incident.

General Zaman said that Bangladesh is going through a chaotic situation, and criminals are taking advantage of it.

"There are a few reasons behind the deteriorating law and order situation. The first reason is that we are busy fighting. We are busy enraging each other," he said.

He said instead of causing chaos, at the end of the day, Bangladeshis have to remain united by looking after the country and the nation.

"If you can't move beyond your differences and continue meddling and fighting among yourselves, the independence and sovereignty of the country will be at risk. I warn you (again)," Zaman said, without naming any group.

"Since stakeholders are busy accusing each other, miscreants find the situation favourable" believing that they could get away with anything, he added.

He urged everyone not to vilify indiscriminately the law enforcement forces, including police or security agencies for some of their controversial actions in the past, saying "they have contributed positively".

A career infantry officer, Gen Zaman said he had no personal "ambition", in an apparent reference to the country's history of military takeovers.

He said the military would return to barracks once the country reached a stable point.

"I just want to bring the country and the nation to a stable point and then take a vacation," said Zaman, who incidentally is a relative of Hasina.

Last year, Zaman in an interview said it would take 18 months to hold an election. Yunus' office said this was his personal opinion.

"At the beginning, I said it would take 18 months to hold an election. We are on that path. Professor Yunus is doing his best to keep us united. Let's help him," the army chief said.

A mass uprising led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement toppled longtime prime minister Sheikh Hasina's 16-year-long regime on August 5, 2024. Economist Muhammad Yunus took charge of the interim government.

The interim administration entrusted the army with the task of policing with judicial magisterial authority as the upsurge largely shook the regular police structure and its effectiveness.

Army largely stood on the sidelines despite being called out to tame the uprising by the deposed government, while a UN fact-finding report suggested policed actions during the uprising and subsequent violence claimed nearly 1400 lives.

Bangladesh witnessed a resurgence of unrest since February 5 when protestors burned and demolished the residence of the country's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, coinciding with her daughter Hasina's previously announced virtual address to students from India.

The protesters set on fire or ransacked the houses and business establishments of the Awami League leaders and supporters across the country.

Bangladesh's security forces have arrested over 8,600 people in a two-week crackdown named "Operation Devil Hunt" that targeted gangs allegedly linked with the ousted Hasina government.

The arrests come amid growing concerns about rising crime levels, particularly in Dhaka, with police saying the number of robberies had doubled since January last year.

Last week, rival student factions clashed at a university campus, a sign of serious discord between groups instrumental in spearheading the July-August 2024 uprising.

We were talking about Hindutva's using the trope of connecting Islam with some terrorist murders in Africa, and now you are bringing in current Bangladesh political situation which is the worst off-topic comment subject I have seen you broach so far.

Get it through your head, Bangladesh is a heaven of communal and religious harmony - that "down-in-the-dumps" India can never be. Bangladeshis look to India with sad pity.

Writing one lakh propaganda articles in Indian media will change none-of-that. Bangladeshis know what India was, is and will be. Worry about your Indian situation.

I am no longer going to comment on this - you are beyond help.

We were talking about Hindutva's using the trope of connecting Islam with some terrorist murders in Africa, and now you are bringing in current Bangladesh political situation which is the worst off-topic comment subject I have seen you broach so far.

Those who does this say that they do it on the name of Islam. No place where the believers of Islam are there is peaceful on this planet. I think your definition of heaven is different from others. Killing Hindus, demolition of their temples, filing false cases on them comes in your definition of heaven.
