โ–ช๏ธA senior commander of Pakistani Taliban (Jamaatul Ahrar - JuA faction), Qari Zia-ur-rehman aka Qari Ismail has been critically wounded when unknown individuals opened fire on him in Lal Pura district, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.

๐Ÿ”บHe is likely targeted due to infighting by between TTP and JuA.

๐Ÿ”บQari Zia-ur-rehman aka Qari Ismail participated in several terrorists activities including kidnapping for ransom and attacks on security forces in Khyber area from the platform of Lashkar e Islam and TTP/ JUA.

Afghan Taliban arrest TTP terrorists amid growing pressure

Afghan interim govt made the arrests in the bordering town of Kunar a day ago, reliable source says

Shahabullah Yousafzai

PESHAWAR: In a significant development, the Afghanistan interim government has apprehended three commanders and 16 foot soldiers associated with the Malakand Division chapter of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The arrests, which occurred just a day ago, took place in the bordering area of Kunar, a reliable source told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

The move comes as Pakistan intensifies its pressure on the Afghan Taliban to take decisive action against the TTP, a group implicated in a spate of recent terrorist activities in Pakistan. Last month, Islamabad conveyed a list of demands to Kabul, including the extradition of Hafiz Gul Bahadur, whose faction claimed responsibility for the November 26 suicide attack in Bannu.

Authorities revealed that the Bannu attack was carried out by an Afghan national, marking the latest in a series of attacks in Pakistan since the return of the Afghan Taliban to power in August 2021.

Addressing concerns, Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) stated on Friday that the Afghan Taliban government had given "certain assurances" to neutralise the threat posed by the TTP.

According to a source familiar with the matter, among the apprehended individuals is Commander Ilyas, also known as Ustad Ji, from the Malakand Division. Two other commanders, members of the Malakand shura, were also taken into custody. The entire group, referred to as a Tashkil, was promptly transferred to Kunar Jail following their arrest.

The source indicated that the initial stages of the investigation suggest that the captured suspects have links to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). Furthermore, it was noted that the arrested commanders are believed to have played a facilitating role for the terrorist group.

Since the return of the Taliban to power in August 2021, Pakistan has witnessed a concerning surge in terrorist attacks. Statistics reveal a 60 per cent increase in overall attacks, with suicide attacks rising dramatically by 500 per cent.

๐Ÿ”บQari Shakir, the suicide bomber responsible for the SVBIED attack on a PS in #DeraIsmailKhan, is an Afghan citizen and a TTA member from Shargi village in the Musa Qala district of Helmand, Afghanistan. His brother, Molvi Furqani, holds a TTA commander position.

The second attacker, Hafiz Umar, has also been identified as an Afghan citizen from Khost, a TTA member, and an alumnus of Madarsa Latak in Khost.

- As a representative of a state, prioritize addressing substantial matters rather than disseminating misleading statements.

Pakistan has furnished ample proofs of the presence and activities of Khawarijs on your soil.

Take meaningful action instead of engaging in propaganda otherwise we know where to hit.

๐Ÿ”บThe spokesperson for the Pakistan Foreign Office:

- "We have had a list of demands from Afghanistan on terrorism. Afghanistan has said that it would investigate, we expect them to do more than investigate and handover individuals involved in terrorism"

- "Pakistan strongly denies reports and speculations of any talks taking place with the Banned TO-TTP. There is absolutely no dialogue with the TTP."

The attack against Pakistani security forces in KPK by Pakistani Taliban, also involves an Afghan Taliban suicide bomber from Helmand province, this is deeply distressing.

It exposes a profound disconnect between Afghan Taliban leaders and Afghan Taliban foot soldiers, as the latter persist in their desire to combat the Pakistani army, with political leaders exerting minimal control. These fighters, highly sophisticated and trained by Al-Qaeda and other terror groups, possess battle-hardened experience with NATO military equipment.

This poses a significant threat, underscoring the need for urgent and decisive action. The echoes of Afghanistan's dichotomy, where some sought livelihoods while others pursued paradise through conflict, are painfully resonant in Pakistan.

This complex reality profoundly impacts ordinary citizens, weaving a tapestry of sorrow and hardship that demands attention and collective efforts for a more compassionate and peaceful future. In the somber reality of the present, the claimed illusion of divine favor by the Pakistani establishment weighs heavily.

A moment of reflection unfolds, urging a reconsideration that acknowledges the depth of shared human experience and the need for genuine empathy in these challenging times.

It's crucial to move beyond rhetoric and work towards a peaceful Pakistan and region. The situation demands difficult yet timely decisions, without wasting precious time, to prevent further escalation and bring stability to the region.

Qari Hikmat, a member of the Banned terrorist organization TTP, is photographed posing with his weapon in front of a newly constructed iconic mosque on Gardez Kabul Road, Paktia, Afghanistan.

  • The mosque was financed by Afghan businessman Muhammad Mirza Katwazai at the request of senior IEA leadership.
  • In the mosque's inauguration, Zain Ullah, the director of the Afghan Interior Ministry office, Wazir Haqani, chief director of the Interior Ministry finance department, and Paktia's Governor Haji Muhammad Khan participated.
  • It is crucial to note that the TTP has been responsible for the martyrdom of numerous innocent Pakistani civilians, attacks on security forces, and assaults on places of worship. The TTP utilizes Afghan territory with the support of Afghanistan to orchestrate attacks within Pakistan.
  • Despite presenting concrete evidence to Afghan authorities, the Afghan Taliban continues to deny their presence on Afghan soil.

๐Ÿ”บPakistani security forces effectively thwarted an infiltration attempt from #Afghanistan into #Pakistan along the international border.

- Nine #Afghan citizens were apprehended and subsequently transferred to Afghan authorities at the Chaman crossing after thorough investigation.

๐Ÿ”บTen TTP commanders attended (We've Names), where Noor Wali Mehsud was briefed on recent attacks in DI Khan, the formation of Ansar Al Jihad, progress of TJP, acquisition of US leftover weaponry, and recruitment of #Afghan and foreign fighters.

- Specifically, TTP Suicide Bombing's Chief Mukhlis Yar was instructed by Noor Wali Mehsud to recruit Afghan citizens, particularly children, for suicide bombings.

- During the meeting, commanders revealed that 150-160 newly recruited #Afghan citizens were trained and prepared for deployment against Pakistan.

๐Ÿ”บNoor Wali Mehsud also disclosed receiving a significant amount from a neighboring country of Pakistan to fund TTP operations.

- He directed commanders to target civilians in South and North Waziristan who resist extortion or oppose TTP.

๐Ÿ”บThe #Afghan interim government consistently denies the presence of the TTP on Afghan soil and the use of Afghan territory against Pakistan.

- However, the reality is that the entire TTP leadership is located on Afghan soil, with training camps operating freely and orchestrating attacks on Pakistan from Afghan territory.

- The Afghan government should cease deceiving the international community and neighboring countries, taking decisive action against these elements and putting an end to the use of Afghan soil against its neighboring nations.

On 31 December 2023, movement of three terrorists, who were trying to infiltrate Pakistan- Afghanistan border, was picked up by security forces in general area Batwar, Bajaur District.

After fire exchange, all three terrorists were sent to hell. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists.

RAWALPINDI: At least eight terrorists were killed in three separate encounters up and down the country, in which one soldier embraced martyrdom, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, said in separate statements on Sunday.

The statement said that Naik Abdul Rauf, 31, from the Rahimyar Khan district, embraced martyrdom, while fighting gallantly against the terrorists, who had targeted a Pakistani border post in the general area of Spinwam, North Waziristan district, from inside Afghanistan overnight.

Tragically, Naik Abdul Rauf succumbed to his injuries, and embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire, the ISPR said. In response, Pakistani troops retaliated effectively, causing considerable losses to the attackers,โ€ it added.

In another incident, according to the ISPR, security forces detected the movement of three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Batwar, Bajaur district. After a fierce exchange of fire, the three terrorists were neutralised and a cache of arms was recovered.

โ€œPakistan has consistently urged the interim Afghan government to enhance border management on their side of the border,โ€ the ISPR said, emphasising that Afghan Taliban must fulfil their obligations to prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for carrying out acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

In a separate statement, the ISPR said that five terrorists were killed by security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mashkai area of Balochistanโ€™s Awaran district. A hideout of the terrorists was also destroyed and a โ€œcache of arms, ammunition and explosives was recoveredโ€, it said.

According to the statement, a sanitisation operation was carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. โ€œSecurity forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,โ€ the ISPR said.
