Myanmar Navy releases 56 fishermen a day after detention

Fifty-six fishermen detained by the members of Myanmar Navy are released on Thursday. Commanding officer of Teknaf-2 Battalion, Ashikur Rahman, said earlier on Wednesday, Myanmar Navy detained 56 Bangladeshi fishermen along with six trawlers from the Bay of Bengal at gun-point.

Fifty-six fishermen detained by the members of Myanmar Navy are released on Thursday.

Commanding officer of Teknaf-2 Battalion, Ashikur Rahman, said earlier on Wednesday, Myanmar Navy detained 56 Bangladeshi fishermen along with six trawlers from the Bay of Bengal at gun-point.

Later, they released the fishermen on Thursday morning but kept the trawlers and nets.​

Indian navy operates 6-7 Kilos which they are planning to phase out in near future. If the Indian navy sell these Kilos to Myanmar navy at a nominal price, Bangladesh navy will be doomed. Our two upgraded Ming class won't be able to protect our EEZ from these Kilos.

I don't think Myanmarese Junta will attempt to deploy all 6 or 7 Kilos (or even 2 or 3) which will really weigh them down as far as operational costs and maintenance, even if (BIG IF) India decides to sell these to Myanmar (which will be considered a hostile act by Bangladesh and will cast a huge shadow over bilateral relations with India).

Most countries (unlike the administration and leadership we have in the US now) consider all kinds of consequences before taking a big step like this. Even threatening another country with steps like this is a big deal.

And Myanmar's gains by taking control of our EEZ is an illegal act which will have serious repercussions in the International community as well as in ASEAN countries (too much risk for very little gain), which will make the Junta there even more isolated politically and economically than they already are. I don't think they'd want this.

Such immature behavior from the top leadership of a nation as big as India only goes to prove their incompetence. Unlike China with a 5000 year old well-disciplined and successful administration (which did face issues at various times in history), the record for India is questionable at best since the British left. Even the defence sector for such a massive economy has few if any achievements compared to China which is now rivaling that of the US with 6th Gen. fighters and bombers (J36 and J50).

Their administration is sadly only floating on thinly supported bubbles of untruths and propaganda at best to hide the massive incompetence, corruption and mismanagement.

Indians (especially their poor) deserve so much better. Most Indians are thinking of leaving in massive numbers, a good number have left.

Little surprise that Mamata Banerjee (WB CM) quipped about the recent Mahakumbh mela that it was a "Mrityu Kumbh" (Death Trap). 100 Million people converging in a disorganized place of muck and filth with no health or safety concern by the authorities in charge. Death toll is 30 confirmed and over 60 injured.
