Do not trust BBC Bangla completely - they are just posting whatever BD gov is allowing to be released. As noted - the 8 point demand by students is false and made up by the Hasina regime.

Will post more as I hear updates from friends and family back home.

Hi everyone, back after a long time. Got updates and wanted to share -

Got a call from a friend who is active in the protest. Here are the details -

More than 200+ killed and counting.

The govt is creating confusion by shutting down internet and then implementing curfew restricting internal movement.

Then they arrested the top leaders of the student protest. (source)

After that they staged a drama by getting 3 students (one of them is a Chatra league member) and arranged a meet with 3 BAL ministers, saying the students have agreed to sit down for negotiation based on 8 point demand. The govt did a press conference on this and this is available in BBC Bangla (Source). BUT, the reality is that this is all staged. The general students have not made any demand nor agreed to sit down with the govt. The protest is to continue and this is no longer about quota, it is about getting Hasina to step down.

So great to see you back again @LeonBlack08 bhai. Appreciate the updates and my story is the same - Internet is severely curtailed so very little news coming out. WhatsApp and Viber calls do not get through. But it is quite apparent this regime may be on its last legs. Like all sane people with a conscience, I cannot but support the just quota-reform movement. 30% quota for freedom fighters' grandchildren is insane....

Sheikh Hasina's Education, Home and Information ministry functionaries learned their propaganda game from the other "Mulk" very well. Spreading confusion and fakery is their main game.

Funny enough - There is also a movement now in Kolkata in solidarity with the Bangladesh movement. In most states of India job quotas are also in the 50% range, which needed abolishment yesterday.

All I have access to is not Bangladesh Media but Godi Media in India, their joy seems to have no bound, when they see Bangladesh go down the tubes.
