I would love to do a motorcycle trip in India someday, although with Pakistan listed as my place of birth on the passport, the chance of ever getting a visa to visit are slime to none, sadly.

You got that right bud. My Bangladeshi parents could not get a visa, since their birthplace was listed as Pakistan. They were in their late, late years when this happened.

Jihadi 80 year old terrorists in walkers, I guess.

Why India when Pakistan's mountainous terrains and landscapes are so much better and with much friendlier people?

Or do you want this: Outrage over Brazilian tourist's gang rape in India

instead of this?

Think I remember you mentioning this at the other place, shame about it.

Sounds odd, afaik / heard, there's a steady stream of BD folk who visit India, at least for medical reasons. Maybe tougher now with the recent souring of relations.

Yes - even granting medical visas for Bangladeshis have slowed to a trickle because of the media effect from India - unless it's a life or death question. Bangladesh has closed down Kolkata and Agartala assistant high commissions and also stopped granting non-essential visas.

There is collective wailing being heard in the Kolkata hospitality, travel, business and clinic communities. These guys are losing their life's savings. Very sad. BJP is indirectly trying to sink Kolkata economy. :-(

If there is Pakistani stamp on your passport (or were born in Pakistan which is a rarity now) - you will have an extremely tough time getting an Indian tourist visa even.

Music to my ears man.

Stay on your side.

Or go to Malibu.

People like myself (even those with lesser funds than I do) will be choosing alternate medical tourism destinations like Thailand, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia or in some cases, even Turkey. Some are using Bangladesh medical facilities (a bit higher for charges).

Losses are all accruing in India - which is fact.

We will take the losses if it means we dont have little brown runts running amok on our land.

I'm a doctor. A senior one. Loads of senior colleagues.

We look at Bangladeshi patients as our charity CSR.

You give Bangladeshis free medical care? Very nice of you. They won't be back looks like.

Since this is the whatever thread and you are a doctor looking at facts and figures - here are some stunting figures.

"India has a child stunting rate of approximately 35.5%, while Bangladesh has a lower rate of around 25%. Both countries face significant challenges with child malnutrition, but Bangladesh has made more progress in reducing stunting rates compared to India."

India ranks far worse than Bangladesh in the GHI (Global Hunger Index) as well.

Stats glitching there I think. It is very hard if not damn near impossible to quantify those sorts of things but I will speak anecdotally here, as I generally do.. my observations of the various groups in India.

North east 7 sisters folk are a bit, and I'm not sure if stunted is the right word, shorter statured. The proper oriental looking folk are famously that way.. genetics.

South Indians are of a darker complexion most times...

Bihari tribal folk are also shorties, but in their case it is probably malnutrition.

Bengali, across the borders are on average shorter than North Indians, Punjab, Haryana etc

Theek hai, Sachin Tendulkar is 5.2 or something... it's all good.

I'd be careful on painting with so broad a brush...varies.

Asians East of Bangladesh may be shorter but richer SE Asian countries are taller. Koreans, Chinese and Japanese upper class are all around 5' 10" and up nowadays. Increased nutrition.

Class and height in any country is connected to nutrition.

Middle and Upper Middle Class male Bangladeshis on average are 5' 8" and up.

Males in my family are all around 5' 11" - some are above 6'.

But these numbers don't amount to a hell of beans anyway... heights can change in one generation with better nutrition and exercise.

Signing off now.... more tomorrow.

No problem. There is a large world outside of India too to explore and enjoy. I can spend my money and time there. :D

Because I have done a lot of the Pakistani northern areas already, much of it on two wheels, although, this was all some time ago. Maybe revisiting might be considered, but that whole area is currently a powder keg just waiting for the wrong spark, and hence not safe at all, no matter what is claimed. :D
