They hype the range by citing highest range at high altitude which reduces to half at around 6000 to 8000 meter compared to 15000 meters.

I completely agree. We all know. Tejas is the world's most powerful fighter jet. 1 Tejas = 100 Rafale.

While comparing Tejas and JF 17, Global Times said the same thing. The last sentence of the article was " While JF 17 is a plane of present, Tejas is a plane of future".

How can it be a plane of the future being slightly better than MiG-29, Su-30 and Mirage 2000? It is antiquated as anything. The design and components are all over two decades old.

The words were used by Global times when the article was published when JF 17 was new. At that time (even today) Tejas had used lot more composite than any other aircraft and it was tweaked for low RCS design in the limitation of Aerodynamics. It had a very advance flight control system and lesser numbers of parts. It had a very good Israeli radar and multiple weapon options from India, Europe, Israel and Russia. It was very good when it came. It is good even today. That is why (Perhaps) Global Times had told it an aircraft of future. It was an aircraft of future at that time and that is why it is contemporary today. JF 17 was Contemporary at that time that is why out dated today.
