I have enjoyed ultra testy dishes in my office. Surat is very famous for its food. I have hundreds of Restaurants in 200 meter distance from my house. I hardly go there. I like the test of food grown organically where the test of basic food is very good. I don't like to eat too many items to gather. I have sourced black mung and desi rice from organic fields of tribal area such as bellow in mountains of Dang. It really tests great. Not everybody is luck to enjoy such food.

There is a Gujarati place in midtown Los Angeles near Long Beach called Surati Farsan.

They have your usual Papdi chaats, Chholey Bhatura, Pav vada, Sev-based snacks and also - Dosas for lunch snacks. Just a lunch and late night snack place but also has sweet treats.

I can't tell if these are authentic Gujarati dishes but seems maybe only half of them are. I know anything with Pav rolls are Mumbai-origin and Dosas are South Indian food.

Yes. Gujarati diet is very balanced diet. Chapti (Fulka), various subjis, different pulses(Dal), Rice, butter milk, milk, ghee, Bajari Rotala etc.

Here are some descriptions of common Bangladesh dishes, there is lots of overlap with main dishes and snacks from both Indian and Pakistan. However Rosogolla and Rasmalai and many other sweets were all originated in our area (greater Bengal) as sweets were offered during Hindu Puja ceremonies and celebrations. There are specific areas where they originated. For example - Rasmalai came from Cumilla, which was the former capital of the Kingdom of Tripura (Varman Kings - yes of RD and SD Varman fame). Bengalis are inveterate connoisseurs of sweets.

I knew you were a gujju. 😄

My brother in law just came back from Surat with my winter quota of Salaam Pak.

Close cousin of Parsi vasanu.
