Short answer is..will be...as far as I have looked at various opposition discussions they all recognize that the last mass protests did not go anywhere because there was no leadership...intense efforts are made to have a united front before the next mass protest is triggered..All are talking about 2024 as most likely year and if Khamenei dies then sooner ...Regime officials have started stashing $$$ outside Iran via sons or close family members....I sense panic in mullah ranks and in-fighting has started..IRGC and Afghan thugs are now their last defence...they have lost all support from people minus some hard-core groups..fuel is there we just need spark...the key is not to have a civil war but no one knows.

We need to wait for the Ukraine war to conclude in Russian favor first. Russians and the Chinese are going to support secular forces in Iran who are not too pro-west, such as Shirin Ebadi. She is very different from the Shah family based in the US.

Russia is now seeing what Islamic fundamentalist can do to Russia ..hope they take note of this in their assessment of cozy relationship with mad and Islam crazy mullahs of Iran...China has avoided any investments in Iran because they consider the regime as "Crazy"Lunatics" but at the same time they milk mullahs by getting that 40% discount on oil and laughing all the way to the bank...so their position may not change that easily ...
I did some research about Iran's "internal opposition" ..It exists..has leaders but due to police state of the regime it is not very well known and public (For now)...Monarchist and their leader (Shah's son) not a serious group but influential and loaded with $$$. Bulk of 5 to 9 million Iranians expats are non-monarchist liberals and there is leadership for them shaping as we speak ( they are now talking about the first day after collapse of IR and what has to be in place..etc. Funny some are asking what to do with Khomainis tomb in new Iran ..his tomb looks like an opulent castel now for a mullahs who was preaching for the benefit of poor and destitute!!!..ironies of IR ).
