It is very difficult to keep people with different faiths, value systems and culture together with brutal force. China wants to keep them together with brutal, ruthless military power. This strategy is risky and works only till you are very strong and people to whom you want to keep together with force are weak. Soon as these equations changes, big imbalance happens in society which becomes very difficult to manage with force. More suppression brings stereotyping and monotonous quality in society which brings standardization in society. It is good to distance but bad for excellence, creativity and innovation. It's logical solution lies in homogeneous grouping based on commonality.
